TCP one year and counting

Hello TCP fans,
Big Jim here and I want look back at the first year of TCP and the way forward. It has been a rocky road since we started this grand project last January. Many enthusiastic imaginative people jumped on the Codex Project train with us it was very fun in the early days. We had the idea to create a counsel of gamers to help facilitate the creation of fan made codices and rules supplements. I know for certain that everyone involved joined with the best intentions, but it seems that early on real life got in the way as it has a habit of doing to our little hobby.
We have had some great fan codices worked on during the past 12 months; with armies like 13th Company Space Wolves, Night Lords, Raven Guard, Lost and the Damned along with many other interesting projects being covered.
The forums were a busy place for the first six months with a wealth of ideas and information being shared. It was a fantastic time for TCP, it slowed down mid summer as every last one of the TCP counsel members got bogged down in real life. I do apologize for this but it does happen.
I moved the Killzone rules here to TCP as they fit the mandate here perfectly and it has provided some new site traffic.
We have started an occasional podcast for TCP starting with design talk for 6th ed 40k, it has been pretty well received. We do plan to finish the series, and then move on to discussing the fan codices in development here on TCP.
Looking forward to this year, there are going to be some changes here at TCP. First off is the disillusionment of the counsel idea, this is not done out of ego or spite it just has not worked and to be honest was not an idea I was totally behind in the beginning. While Jeff “Stucarius” owns the site, he has asked me to take charge of the day to day operations. While he takes a back seat to start a new miniatures wargaming company!
I am going to be looking for a few TCP members to help with the generation of posts for the front page. I’d like the front page to be updated twice a week with new content. If you are interested in lending a hand by all means email me a galaxynflamesblog at gmail.com. Please note I need a real commitment to submit a post every other week.
I will be pruning a lot of old posts on the forums that are irrelevant moving forward.
Jeff and I have a few great ideas to present as we move forward with TCP. I will let Jeff explain them in the next few days.
We will be expanding our focus quite a bit and really be pushing the “by the community for the community” aspect of this grand idea we call TCP. So let’s get busy following the mandate the GW has given us and “make the game our own.”
Cheers,
-Big Jim
Hey Guys this is Jeff "Stucarius" here. I wanted to take the chance to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for all the efforts that have gone into TCP thus far. I have had two things happen that have made it necessary to hand the nuts and bolts running of TCP off to Jim. One is some changes in my personal situation and the other more exciting one is that I am launching a new game company called "Battle Guys". Between the two it became obvious that I needed to ask my co founder and great friend if he minded taking the reins. I think this is going to be a great change for TCP and result in some really exciting changes besides the fact than Jim will be able to give daily even hourly focus on the site and contact with participants where I could no longer do that.
Like Jim hinted I will not be going away just changing my role. Jim and I have some plans for a project based through TCP that I think has the potential to change the way we play 40K on a truly fundamental level. As Jim said I will be putting up a detailed post in a few days specifically laying out what we are going to do and what this "secret" project is.
Once again thanks to everyone who has shared our vision for the potential of TCP even if we were never able to get everything firing on all cylinders. TCP is going no where and we always knew this would be a hard long term [roject before we found the right grove for the TCP community.
All the best to everyone,
Jeff
